Monsoon Playbook for EV Delivery Fleets in Delhi NCR

Every monsoon, the same underpasses and roads in Delhi NCR flood: stretches around Minto Bridge, parts of Gurugram's Sohna Road and Golf Course Extension, and low-lying sectors in Noida and Ghaziabad. Delivery demand spikes at the same time, because nobody wants to go out. For EV fleets, a bit of preparation keeps riders safe and scooters on the road.

Before the rains

  • Map your flood spots. Ask riders which roads near each hub waterlog, and build a shared list with alternative routes.
  • Check scooters. Look at tyre tread, brakes and lights, and check the battery bay seals and connectors.
  • Stock rain gear. Raincoats and bag covers. Wet riders and wet orders both lead to complaints.

During heavy rain

  • No riding through deep water. If water is above the footboard, turn back. This is the single most important rule for any two-wheeler, electric or petrol.
  • Swap early. Swap stations get busier in bad weather, so riders shouldn't wait for a near-empty battery.
  • Slow down. Braking distances grow on wet roads, and low-speed EVs help here.

After a heavy rain day

  • Inspect any scooter that went through standing water: battery bay, connectors, brakes and wiring.
  • Dry and clean connectors before re-inserting batteries.
  • Report any battery that behaves oddly to the swap network rather than continuing to use it.

Keep riders earning

Monsoon weeks can be the best earning weeks for riders who are prepared. A little support from you, such as rain gear, safe-route maps and quick repairs, converts into loyalty well beyond the season. More ideas in how to reduce rider churn.
