Electric Scooter on Rent in Delhi NCR for Delivery Fleets: The 2026 Guide

If you run delivery riders anywhere in Delhi NCR, the question in 2026 is no longer whether to move them to electric. It is how to do it without buying a few hundred scooters upfront. Renting is how most fleets are doing it. This guide covers how electric scooter rental works for businesses in the region, what is and isn't included, and what to check before you sign.

Who rents electric scooters in Delhi NCR?

Three kinds of businesses make up most of the demand:

  • Quick commerce fleets running riders out of dark stores in Gurugram, South Delhi and Noida for 10-minute delivery apps.
  • Food delivery and e-commerce fleets covering dense residential pockets such as Dwarka, Laxmi Nagar, Indirapuram and Greater Noida West.
  • Rider fleet operators who rent scooters onwards to gig riders and need to add vehicles every week without tying up capital.

What they share is short, repeated trips, long shifts and thin margins per order. That is exactly the duty cycle where an electric scooter beats petrol on cost.

Rental models you will come across

Fully managed rental

The rent bundles the scooter, battery, servicing and sometimes insurance. It is simple, but you pay for every one of those services in the monthly rate, whether or not your riders need them.

Dry lease

You rent the scooter only. Riders get batteries through a swap subscription with a network such as Battery Smart or Mooving, and you handle servicing yourself or through a local mechanic. The monthly rent is much lower, and you keep control of the two things that vary most between fleets: how far riders ride and how you maintain the vehicles. This is the model Lilypad uses. We explain the trade-offs in detail in dry lease vs fully managed EV rental.

Lease-to-own

Fixed monthly payments for an agreed term, after which the scooter belongs to you or your rider. Operators use it to give riders a reason to stay. See how lease-to-own works.

How batteries work when they are not in the rent

Swappable scooters arrive without a battery. Your rider subscribes to a pack with a swap network and exchanges a drained battery for a charged one at a station in a couple of minutes. There is no charging downtime, no charger to install at your hub and no battery degrading on your balance sheet. Swap station density across Delhi NCR is now high in most delivery zones, but coverage still varies by neighbourhood, so check stations near your hubs first. Our guide to battery swapping for delivery riders walks through this.

What it costs

Rental pricing depends on fleet size, term and plan, so most providers, Lilypad included, quote rather than publish a rate card. To compare fairly against petrol, add three numbers per rider per month: scooter rent, battery swap subscription and your own servicing cost. Then compare that against what a petrol scooter really costs, which is fuel plus servicing plus rent or EMI. Our EV vs petrol cost calculator does the maths for your whole fleet.

Before you sign: a short checklist

  1. Is the scooter compatible with a swap network that has stations near your hubs?
  2. What exactly is included in the rent, and what is not?
  3. Can you start with a pilot batch before committing the whole fleet?
  4. Where is handover, and how quickly can you add scooters?
  5. Is there a lease-to-own option for riders you want to keep?
